On January 28, 2025, a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was submitted to the Rooks Creek Community Consolidated School District 425. The request, sent by us at McLean County Times, sought access to copies of all emails and memos from the past year that contained the keywords "Lucy Calkins" and "Units of Study."
As a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we believe access to these public records is essential for fulfilling our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and ensuring transparency for the public.
We requested these documents in an electronic format and as members of the media involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we also requested a fee waiver.
