Illinois Wesleyan men's volleyball to host Concordia Chicago on Thursday night

The Illinois Wesleyan University men's volleyball team is set to face Concordia University Chicago on Thursday, January 30, at the Shirk Center. The Titans, holding a 5-1 record, will meet the Cougars, who are currently 2-4.

In their recent match against Marian University on January 28, the Titans secured a comeback victory after losing the first two sets and trailing in the third. They achieved a program record of 15 blocks in a single match. Freshmen Gavin Rohlwing and Wilson Spaulding each contributed seven blocks. Rohlwing and sophomore Bryce Williams also led offensively with career-best performances of 17 and 15 kills respectively. Williams additionally recorded four aces and 11 digs for his first double-double. Sophomore Brenden Reutter had a personal best with 30 assists, while junior Jace Milka led with 14 digs.

Rohlwing has been leading the team's offense through six matches with an average of 2.10 kills per set and an attack percentage of .387. Williams follows with an average of 2.54 kills per set. The service line is dominated by Williams and Reutter, each having seven aces this season.

Setting duties have primarily been shared between senior Vince DiCosola and Reutter. DiCosola leads with 84 assists, averaging four per set; Reutter has accumulated 72 assists at an average of 3.43 per set.

Defensively, Rohlwing stands out with an average of 0.90 blocks per set from his total of 18 blocks this season. Senior Jake Kougan is second in blocking stats, averaging one block per set.

This upcoming match marks the third meeting between IWU and CUC, with Illinois Wesleyan leading the series 2-0 from previous encounters in five-set matches during both years prior.

Concordia Chicago comes into this contest following a sweep over The University of Olivet on January 24.
