The Illinois State women's golf team has been selected to defend its title as the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) champion, according to the 2025 preseason polls conducted among head coaches in the conference. The Redbirds garnered a total of 143 poll votes and secured 11 out of 12 first-place votes.

Missouri State, Bradley, Drake, and Belmont follow Illinois State in the top five schools predicted to compete for the MVC Championship scheduled for April. Belmont received one first-place vote.

In the ongoing 2024-25 season, Illinois State has achieved four top-three finishes across five events. The team's most recent performance was a runner-up finish at the Sea Best Intercollegiate, where they were narrowly defeated by Florida. The team boasts six golfers with an average score under 76 strokes per round.

Jinyoung Yun leads the team individually as she continues her role as defending MVC Golfer of the Year. Yun averages 71.7 strokes per round this season, nearly a stroke better than her previous record-setting performance.

The Redbirds are set to compete next on February 8 at the Columbia Classic in Melbourne, Florida.
