Illinois State University (ISU) has announced the addition of a game against Wisconsin to its 2029 football schedule. The game is set for September 8, 2029, at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison, Wisconsin. This continues ISU's trend of scheduling games against Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) opponents through 2028.
The Redbirds' future FBS road games include Oklahoma in 2025, Northern Illinois in 2026, Missouri in 2027, Illinois in 2028, and now Wisconsin in 2029. ISU head coach Brock Spack commented on the announcement: "It's always great for us to be able to schedule a quality Big Ten opponent like Wisconsin," adding that such games are beneficial for players, fans, and alumni.
The last meeting between Illinois State and Wisconsin occurred in 2022. ISU has faced Big Ten teams on twelve other occasions with an overall record of one win and eleven losses. Their sole victory came against Northwestern in 2016 when they secured a win with a last-second field goal.
