Senior Jen Kuhn and sophomore Mallory Holland from Illinois Wesleyan University's softball team have been recognized with the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin's weekly awards. Kuhn was named the CCIW Hitter of the Week, while Holland earned pitcher of the week honors. This marks Kuhn's second league accolade, while it is Holland's first.

Kuhn began the 2025 season strongly during Illinois Wesleyan's games in California on March 8-9. She achieved a .600 batting average by hitting six times out of ten at-bats and driving in seven runs. The senior shortstop also recorded three doubles, scored a run, and had an OPS of 1.445.

Kuhn led her team to victories in each game. In their opening match against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, she went 4-for-4 with four RBIs, two doubles, and a run scored, leading to a 6-1 win for Illinois Wesleyan. She concluded the series with a 2-for-3 performance against Chapman on March 9, contributing to a 3-0 victory. Overall, Kuhn drove in seven out of IWU's total fifteen runs.

Holland demonstrated strong pitching skills as well. Over twelve innings in two appearances, she did not allow any earned runs and limited opponents to a .159 batting average. Against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, she pitched five innings in relief without conceding any hits but received no decision. Holland then achieved her first complete game shutout in a 3-0 win against Chapman.

Illinois Wesleyan concludes its spring break trip today with games against Bethel University and Case Western Reserve University.
