Illinois State University's softball team is set to face the University of Illinois in a non-conference game at Eichelberger Field this Wednesday. The game, which will be broadcast on B1G+, is scheduled for a 5 p.m. start.

The University of Illinois Illini, currently holding an 11-9 record, recently secured a victory against Indiana State with a score of 6-4 and another win over Saint Louis with a score of 5-0. Megan Nuechterlein achieved her fifth start of the season in these games, while Eileen Donahue excelled offensively with a perfect day at the plate.

Illinois State's Redbirds, who are 6-17 so far this season, participated in the Milisa Moore/Shane Lamb Tournament last weekend and finished with one win out of five games. They demonstrated strong batting performances during their victory over Central Arkansas, hitting two home runs.

Following their match against Illinois, the Redbirds will begin Missouri Valley Conference play against Southern Illinois. Notably, four players from Illinois State were selected for the All-MVC preseason team: seniors Delainey Bryant and Bella Wilkerson along with sophomores Paige McLeod and Hopkins.
