Illinois Wesleyan University's track and field team will have four athletes competing at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships in Rochester, New York. The event is scheduled for March 14-15, with participants from all class years: senior Carlyssa King, junior Evan Lowder, sophomore Imani Ogunribido, and freshman Nick Walker.
Evan Lowder will compete in the men's 400-meter race on Friday at 3:05 p.m. ET, with finals on Saturday at 4:25 p.m. ET. Carlyssa King will participate in the women's weight throw on Friday at 3:30 p.m. ET. On Saturday, Imani Ogunribido will compete in the women's triple jump at 11 a.m. ET, followed by Nick Walker in the men's high jump at noon ET.
Lowder returns to the NCAA Indoor Championships after achieving Second Team All-American status last year with a ninth-place finish in the 400m. He qualified this year by setting a new school record of 48.04 seconds at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Final Qualifier on March 8, which also set a meet record and ranks fifth nationally. Lowder has been recognized as an all-region honoree in both the 200m and 400m events and won his third indoor College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Championship title.
Nick Walker contributed to a conference-winning relay team and was named Men's Field Newcomer of the Meet after winning the high jump title with a personal best of 2.05 meters (6'8.75"). This weekend marks his debut at the NCAA level.
Imani Ogunribido secured her national spot early by breaking her own school record twice this season in triple jump events, ranking fifth nationally with a mark of 12.28 meters (40'3.50"). She is making her second appearance at these championships after earning Second Team All-American honors last year.
Carlyssa King makes her first appearance at an indoor championship event for weight throw, entering with an 18th-best mark nationally following a school-record toss of 17.62 meters (57'9.75") earlier this season.
The CCIW features representation from eight out of nine member institutions across various events during these championships hosted by Nazareth University starting Friday, March 14.
