Illinois Wesleyan women's golf team ties for fourth after first day in California

In Palm Desert, California, the Illinois Wesleyan University women's golf team is currently tied for fourth place after the first round of the Augustana Spring Fling at Desert Willow Golf Resort. The event features a seven-team field, including two top-20 ranked Division II teams.

Senior Jacque O'Neill from Harbor Springs, Michigan, led the Titans with the lowest score of the day. Competing as an individual, O'Neill birdied the par-four No. 7 and finished seven-over-par, placing her in a tie for seventh.

Freshman Gigi Zera from Glenview, Illinois, also performed well by birdieing the ninth hole and is tied for 12th with a score of 81. Senior Jadyn Spinks from Bloomington, Illinois, follows closely in 16th place with a score of 82.

Rollins College leads the tournament with a team score of 306. Saint Leo University is second at 318. Vanguard holds third place with a score of 328, four strokes ahead of both Illinois Wesleyan and Augustana (SD), who are tied at 332.

Olivia Deakins from Saint Leo tops the player leaderboard with a one-under-par round of 71.

The second round will commence tomorrow morning at 8:05 a.m. PT. Macy Ludwig from Effingham, Illinois will be the first Titan to tee off at 8:55 a.m. PT.
