Illinois Wesleyan athletes advance to NCAA track and field finals

The Illinois Wesleyan University track and field teams participated in the NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships at Nazareth University's Golisano Training Facility. On March 14, two competitors represented the university.

Sophomore Evan Lowder from Bloomington, Illinois, secured a place in the men's 400-meter final. He finished eighth overall with a time of 48.44 seconds during the preliminary round. This performance marks his second-fastest time in this event for the indoor season.

Senior Carlyssa King from Decatur, Illinois, competed in the women's weight throw event and achieved a 20th-place finish. Her best throw was her first attempt, measuring 15.14 meters (49'8.25").

The championships will continue on March 15 with more events featuring Illinois Wesleyan athletes. Sophomore Imani Ogunribido will compete in the women's triple jump at 11 a.m., followed by freshman Nick Walker in the men's high jump at noon. Evan Lowder will participate in the men's 400m finals at 4:25 p.m.
