Illinois State baseball junior Tyrelle Chadwick has been recognized as the Missouri Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the conference on Tuesday. Chadwick's impressive performance against Western Illinois was a key factor in Illinois State's 10-0 victory. He pitched seven scoreless innings, utilizing 98 pitches and facing 26 batters.

Chadwick, who hails from Kamloops, B.C., retired the first five Leathernecks before allowing a walk in the second inning. After retiring 11 of the next 12 batters, he conceded two hits in the sixth inning with a single and double occurring consecutively. Despite loading the bases following a hit-by-pitch, Chadwick managed to escape unscathed with a ground out to second base.

This performance secured Chadwick his first win of 2025 and left him with an ERA of 2.19 over 12.1 innings for the Redbirds. He is noted as being the first Redbird to receive MVC weekly honors this year and is also their first MVC Pitcher of the Week since Carter Monke achieved it last May.

Looking ahead, Illinois State is set to host SIUE at Duffy Bass Field on Tuesday at 5 PM. Following this game, they will begin MVC play with three games against Belmont in Nashville from Friday through Sunday. The games on Saturday and Sunday will be available for viewing via ESPN+.
