Illinois men's tennis narrowly loses to Creighton Blue Jays

The Illinois men's tennis team faced a narrow defeat against Creighton Blue Jays, with a final score of 4-3. The match took place on Saturday at Hanscom Tennis Courts in Omaha, Nebraska.

In singles play, the Illinois team secured three victories. Tomas Valencia from Santiago, Chile, won against Candini with scores of 7-5 and 6-2. Adrian Dibildox from Monterrey, Mexico, triumphed over Patel with a scoreline of 6-4, 2-6, and 6-3. Jett Leong from Melbourne, Australia, defeated Neil by scores of 7-5 and 6-3.

The doubles matches saw Creighton securing all wins. Ethan Neil and Rocky McKenzie defeated Tomas Valencia and Adrian Dibildox with a score of 4-3. Zachary Kuo and Kirtan Patel won against Tin Ostro and Caden Scarlett by 6-2. Alejandro Gandini and Yuma Daijima overcame Christian Capacci and Manuel Pavia with a decisive 6-1 victory.

For the singles matches beyond the victories for Illinois State University (ISU), Yuma Daijima defeated Tin Ostro in three sets: 7-5, 7-6 (4), and 6-3. Rocky McKenzie overcame Christian Capacci by scores of 6-3 and 6-4. Max Stollecker concluded the singles competition by defeating Caden Scarlett in three sets: 7-5, 3-6, and 6-3.

Looking ahead, ISU will face Drake Bulldogs on March 26 in Des Moines before hosting Denver Pioneers on March 28 at Evergreen Racquet Club in Bloomington.
