Illinois Wesleyan women’s golf ranks third after first day at WashU Spring Invite

The Illinois Wesleyan University women's golf team, ranked 18th nationally, concluded the first day of the WashU Spring Invite in third place. After completing 18 holes on Saturday, March 22, they recorded an opening round score of 300. They are currently seven strokes behind the leaders. The IWU 'B' team is positioned fifth with a score of 306.

Leading the team's efforts were seniors Jacque O'Neill and Jadyn Spinks. O'Neill from Harbor Springs, Michigan posted a one-under par 71 and is ranked second individually. Spinks from Bloomington, Illinois holds third place at even-par.

In addition to O'Neill and Spinks, sophomore Nora Cerroni from Waukesha, Wisconsin; senior Claire Ancevicius from Homer Glen, Illinois; and freshman Grace Fagan from Kirkwood, Missouri are within the top-15 for the IWU 'B' team. Cerroni shares fifth place with a one-over par score of 73. Ancevicius and Fagan are tied for 13th with scores of 75 each.

Grinnell College leads with a score of 293 while UW-Stout follows closely in second place at 298. The host team WashU ranks fourth with a score of 303. Grinnell's Kavya Keshav tops the individual leaderboard at five-under par.
