Illinois State men's tennis falls to Omaha Mavericks in Summit League opener

The Illinois State men's tennis team faced a challenging match against the Omaha Mavericks, resulting in a 5-2 defeat. The competition took place at the Miracle Hill Tennis Center as part of the Summit League Opener.

Illinois State secured two singles victories during the event. Adrian Dibildox, a junior from Monterrey, Mexico, won against Bryan Kuntz of Omaha in three sets with scores of 7-6 (0), 3-6, 6-2. Freshman Christian Capacci from Forlimpopoli, Italy, also claimed victory by defeating UNO's Christian Trevey with scores of 4-6, 6-4, 6-3.

In doubles play, Mikhail Korkunov and Bryan Kuntz from Omaha defeated Adrian Dibildox and Tomas Valencia from Illinois State with a score of 6-2. Ethan Gaubert and Pavan Uppu of Omaha overcame Tin Ostro and Caden Scarlett from Illinois State with a scoreline of 6-4. The match between Caleb Peterson/Christian Trevey (UNO) and Christian Capacci/Manuel Pavia (ISU) was unfinished at 5-4.

For singles matches: Mikhail Korkunov (UNO) beat Tomas Valencia (ISU) with scores of 7-5, 4-6, 6-3; Ethan Gaubert (UNO) triumphed over Tin Ostro (ISU) by scores of 7-5, 7(7)-6(5); Pavan Uppu (UNO) defeated Jett Leong (ISU) with scores of 6-2, 6-4; Caleb Peterson (UNO) won against Caden Scarlett (ISU), finishing at scores of 6-4, 4-6, 6-3.

Next on their schedule is an away game against the Drake Bulldogs on March 26 in Des Moines. Following that match-up, Illinois State will host the Denver Pioneers on March 28 at Evergreen Racquet Club in Bloomington.
