Jen Kuhn named CCIW hitter of the week for second time this season

For the second time this season, senior Jen Kuhn from Illinois Wesleyan University has been named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Hitter of the Week. The announcement was made on Monday, March 24.

Kuhn's performance over four games from March 18 to 22 earned her this recognition. She achieved a batting average of .643 with nine hits in 14 at-bats during doubleheaders against Monmouth College and Trine University, which is ranked No. 11. Kuhn scored five runs and had a team-high of 10 RBIs, along with three doubles and a three-run homer. Her slugging percentage was recorded at 1.071 with an on-base percentage of .625.

Her week began impressively with a perfect 4-for-4 performance that included three RBIs and two runs in a victory against Monmouth on March 18. In the second game, she went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Against Trine University, Kuhn hit a run-scoring double in game one before hitting a three-run homer in game two where she finished with four RBIs.

Illinois Wesleyan will play again on Wednesday, March 26, facing Illinois College in an away doubleheader starting at 3 p.m.

The CCIW also announced other student-athletes recognized for their performances this month: Clare Rettler from Carthage as Hitter of the Week for March 17, Kelsey Bruno from Millikin as Pitcher of the Week for March 24, Maddie Conway from Carthage as Pitcher of the Week for March 17, and Mallory Holland from Illinois Wesleyan as Pitcher of the Week for March 10.
