Illinois State University's women's tennis team is set to host two Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) matches this weekend. The Redbirds, with a current record of 8-6 and 1-0 in the MVC, will face off against the University of Northern Iowa (UNI) on Saturday at 1 p.m., followed by a match against Drake University on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. Both events are scheduled to take place outdoors at Normal West High School, weather permitting.

In their previous outing, Illinois State secured a victory over Bradley University with a score of 5-2. Key performances included juniors Lana Caculovic and Silvia Pomarolli winning the doubles point at No.1 with a 6-2 result. In singles play, Pomarolli achieved a comeback win over Anna Belogliadova with scores of 3-6, 7-5, and 10-3. Nuria Sanz also contributed by defeating Ruby Tseng in straight sets, while Nicole Iosio clinched her match as Madi Rogers retired due to injury.

UNI recently suffered a defeat against Belmont with a score of 5-2. Andjela Raznatovic was successful in her singles match against Libbie Hamilton. However, the doubles pair Darta Dalecka and Lorena Cardoso lost to Belmont's top duo.

Drake University comes into the weekend after falling to Cal State Fullerton by a score of 4-0. Their last victory was recorded on March 12 against Chicago State. Elizabeth Klavinska led Drake's efforts in singles play during that match, while she and Tess Caldicott secured a win in doubles competition.

Looking ahead, Illinois State will travel to Kentucky for an April 4 matchup against Murray State Racers at Bennie Purcell Tennis Courts.
