Illinois State University's talented trio of senior gymnasts—Jaye Mack, Alana Laster, and Sara Wabi—are set to showcase their skills at the 2025 NCAA Washington Regional Championships in Seattle. The event, scheduled from April 3-6 at the Alaska Airlines Arena, includes top collegiate gymnasts from across the nation. The Redbirds are slated to compete in the first session on Friday at 3 p.m. CT, with the regional finals taking place on April 5.
ISU head coach Bob Conkling expressed his pride in the athletes, stating, "I am so proud of these three young ladies and the season they have had so far. I know they are prepared for this competition and will represent their Redbird teammates and fans with style and grace against some of the best gymnasts in the country in Washington this weekend."
Jaye Mack, competing at the Regional for the fourth consecutive year, will participate in vault and floor, rotating with the team from Arizona. Mack, a Lee's Summit, Missouri native, is noted for her accomplishments, including her fourth Midwest Independent Conference championship on floor. She has consistently posted high scores, ranking No. 104 in the country with an NQS of 9.870 on the floor and No. 48 on vault with a 9.865.
Alana Laster makes her third appearance at the NCAA Regional, competing on vault and floor for the first time. The Cape Coral, Florida native rotates with Georgia, holding a No. 35 NQS ranking on vault at 9.875 and a No. 88 ranking on floor. This season, her performances have frequently exceeded a score of 9.850, highlighted by a vault season-best of 9.925.
In her debut NCAA Regional appearance, Sara Wabi from Chicago will also rotate with Georgia on the uneven bars, boasting a national ranking of No. 106. Wabi, the 2025 MIC Champion on bars with a score of 9.875, consistently delivered commendable performances throughout the season.
The Regional Championships select the top 36 teams and the best individual gymnasts based on national qualifying scores. The top two regional teams and the leading all-around competitor not affiliated with these teams advance to the national championships. Additionally, the top event specialists in each event who do not belong to an advancing team will compete in the national championship.
