The Illinois Wesleyan University men's golf team demonstrated its depth during the first day of the IWU Invitational in Bloomington, Illinois, on Friday, April 4. The team managed to secure the top two positions in both team and individual standings, despite challenging weather conditions.
The Titans' 'B' team posted an opening round score of 283, finishing five-under par at the Ironwood Golf Course, while the 'A' team ended the day in second place with a score of 292. Senior Quinn Clifford and Raj Sethi led the leaderboard for the individual players. Clifford scored a four-under 68 with birdies on multiple holes, while Sethi closely followed with a score of 69.
The team was further bolstered by performances from junior Myles Lahart, freshman Pablo Castro, and senior Griffin Pohl, who all scored 72, tying for eighth place.
The 'B' team's performance placed it nine strokes ahead of both Lake Forest and Heartland CC, closing the day with a score of 283. Aurora stood third at 294, while St. John's ended the day at 297. The event will conclude with a final round on April 5, with live scoring available.
