BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team will begin their College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) schedule on Wednesday, April 9, with a game against North Central College. The Titans will host the Cardinals at Tucci Stadium with a start time of 7:30 p.m.
Illinois Wesleyan enters the game with an 8-2 record, following a break in competition after their last match on March 29, where they secured a 23-18 victory over Adrian College. Sophomore Timothy McHugh, recognized as the CCIW Offensive Player of the Week, was a key performer in the game, accumulating eight points through four goals and four assists. Senior Nick Schroeder was successful in 22 out of 32 faceoffs and led with 14 ground balls, while goalie Colin Tervo made 17 saves.
McHugh currently leads the team with 49 points from 18 goals and 31 assists. His average of 3.10 assists per game ranks first in the conference and ninth nationally. Fifth-year player Ike Eastburn follows with 33 points from 32 goals and one assist. The Titans' goalkeepers lead the CCIW in total saves with 125, with Tervo contributing 108 so far. His average of 12.78 saves per game ranks him second in the league and 49th in the nation.
North Central holds a 6-2 record, coming into the game after a close 9-8 victory over Calvin University. Illinois Wesleyan has a history of seven consecutive wins over North Central since their first encounter in 2018. In their last meeting, the Titans won 16-10, with McHugh, Gage Black, and Sam Weinberg tying for team-high scoring with four points each.
