The Illinois Wesleyan University women's golf team, ranked 18th in the Division III Mizuno/WGCA Coaches Poll, is preparing to host the Kathy Niepagen Spring Fling. The tournament will take place at Ironwood Golf Course from April 12-13 over two days and 36 holes.
Teams competing in the tournament include Illinois Wesleyan, Trine, 10th-ranked St. Kate's, Carleton, Rose Hulman, 24th-ranked Grinnell, St. Mary's, Aurora, UW-Whitewater, Carroll, North Central, Augustana, UW-Stout, Adrian, Illinois College, Wartburg, Carthage, Millikin, and Central. Carleton and UW-Stout are among those receiving votes nationally but are not in the top 25.
Illinois Wesleyan will enter two teams in the tournament with additional players participating as individuals. Macy Ludwig, Jadyn Spinks, Jacque O'Neill, sophomore Nora Cerroni, and freshman Gigi Zera will form the main team. A secondary team will feature seniors Kylie Hundman and Claire Ancevicius, junior Brooke Erhard, sophomore Emily Gastrau, and Grace Fagan. Freshmen Breanna Brown and Caroline Carr, along with sophomore Sarah Sim, will compete individually.
The tournament is set to start with a shotgun format at 9 a.m. each day, and scores will be available live through the Scoreboard powered by Clippd.
The latest rankings show Carnegie Mellon leading with 14 first-place votes and 493 points. Emory and George Fox follow with three first-place votes each, amassing 478 and 454 points, respectively. The top five also include WashU with 435 points and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps with 412 points.
