A successful week for the Illinois Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team saw senior Nick Horrocks receive the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Defensive Player of the Week award. The conference made the announcement on Tuesday, April 14.
This is the first time Horrocks has received this weekly accolade. The recognition is the fourth for the Titans this season. Earlier, Colin Tervo was honored on February 25 for his defensive efforts, while Timothy McHugh was recognized for his offensive contributions in consecutive weeks on March 25 and April 1.
Horrocks was instrumental in Illinois Wesleyan's victories against North Central College and Carthage College last week. In the match against North Central on April 9, which ended 19-11 in favor of the Green and White, Horrocks set personal records with five caused turnovers and six ground balls. He followed up with a caused turnover and four ground ball recoveries in the subsequent 11-9 win against Carthage College on April 12.
The team will continue its conference schedule against Elmhurst University on Saturday, April 19, with the game scheduled to start at noon at Langhorst Field.
