Three Titans from Illinois Wesleyan University's men's golf team secured top-20 finishes at the Cochran Collegiate, a tournament featuring 18 teams, held at Colonial Country Club in Cordova, Tennessee. The team concluded the event in fourth place, with a final round score of 304, totaling 916 over three rounds.
Junior Michael Spitzer from Hinsdale, Illinois, was the top performer for Illinois Wesleyan, finishing ninth overall. He completed his final round one-over 73, highlighted by birdies on the first and 17th holes and an eagle on the par-four ninth hole. Spitzer ended the tournament 11-over par.
Senior Quinn Clifford, hailing from Chicago, tied for 17th position with a score of 229. Meanwhile, Mokena native Juney Bai, a junior at Illinois Wesleyan, managed a 20th place finish with a total of 230.
Oglethorpe University, ranked sixth, surged to the top of the leaderboard on the final day, clinching the title with a score of 899. Lynchburg stood as the runner-up with 904, and Babson took third place with 913. Mary Hardin-Baylor followed Illinois Wesleyan in fifth place, scoring 922. Nick Rubino from Hampden-Sydney won the individual honors, finishing four-over par with rounds of 72, 75, and 73, totaling 220.
Illinois Wesleyan is now gearing up for their last regular season event, the Take Back the Night Challenge, set to take place in Decatur, Illinois on April 25-26.
