The Illinois Wesleyan University baseball team is set to face off against DePauw University in a doubleheader on April 26 at Jack Horenberger Field. The event will begin with the celebration of 13 senior team members at 11:30 a.m., followed by the first pitch at noon and the second game at 3 p.m.
The seniors to be honored include Tyler Woltman, Jimmy Gurgone, Brady Hartman, Sebastian Edenhofer, Tristan Figus, Luke Schwab, Dalen Banks, Casey Swanson, Nate Carlson, Cade Tomhave, Justin Gadomski, William Duff, and junior Jimmy Martin, who will be leaving for a special physics program after three years at Illinois Wesleyan and another three years at Washington University in St. Louis.
The Titans, currently on a six-game win streak, recently defeated Millikin University with a 3-2 victory. Key contributions came from Junior Jake Pullam, who struck out seven in six innings, and Junior Luke Costello, who secured the win with three strikeouts in three innings.
Illinois Wesleyan stands second in the conference behind Carthage College, leading in batting average. Cade Tomhave tops the batting averages consistently at .415, with Justin Gadomski following at .401 and leading in hits and doubles. Pullam holds the second best-earned run average after Millikin's Nolan Reiman.
The history between the Titans and DePauw University dates back to 1988, with Illinois Wesleyan leading 11-5 overall. Their meetings resumed in 2009 after an 11-year break, with the Titans holding a narrow 3-2 advantage since.
