Illinois State University's track and field team is set to conclude its regular season with a doubleheader on Friday. The Redbirds will participate in two meets: the Billy Hayes Invitational hosted by Indiana University and the Sycamore Open hosted by Indiana State University. Both events are scheduled to start at noon.
The team heads to Indiana after their last home meet of the season, which took place on May 2. During this event, three athletes from Illinois State achieved top-10 marks. Freshman Zach Paul entered the program's top-10 list for the men's 100m dash with a time of 10.42 seconds. He is currently ranked fourth in the Missouri Valley Conference and sixth all-time in Redbird history.
Another freshman, Victor Byaundaombe, also made it into the top-10 list. Byaundaombe moved to seventh place in Illinois State history for the men's triple jump with a mark of 15.32 meters (50-3.25). He currently holds first place in this event within the Missouri Valley Conference.
Senior Kiley Sanders marked her last appearance at the Redbird Track & Field Complex by entering the top-10 list for women's high jump, clearing a height of 1.75 meters (5-8.75). Sanders now ranks eighth in program history and has achieved top-10 marks both indoors and outdoors.
Following Friday's events, Illinois State will prepare for the 2025 Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Carbondale, Illinois, starting on Saturday, May 17.
