In a bid to secure qualifying marks for the upcoming NCAA Division III Track and Field Outdoor Championships, Illinois Wesleyan University's men's and women's track and field teams participated in the Midwest Twilight Final Qualifier at Augustana College on May 14. The event witnessed notable performances, particularly from the men's 4x400-meter relay team.
The relay team consisting of sophomores Carson Green and Reece Dusek, junior Evan Lowder, and senior Alex Harvey broke their own school record with a time of 3:12.92. This achievement made them the only Titan relay to break 3:13.00 in the 4x400m event in Illinois Wesleyan history. Competing against a strong field where nine relays entered the top-25 in Division III this season, they finished 12th overall and are ranked 24th nationally.
Sophomore Imani Ogunribido delivered an impressive performance in the triple jump, winning with a leap of 12.55 meters, just shy of her career-best mark which ranks fourth nationally.
Senior Lauren Huber achieved personal bests in two events: she completed the women's 100m hurdles in 16.07 seconds to finish 17th overall and recorded a long jump distance of 5.04 meters for a 13th-place finish. She also cleared 1.54 meters in the high jump, securing tenth place.
Junior Adriana Crabtree finished sixth in the women's 1500m race with a time of 4:37.19 among a competitive field of thirty-eight participants.
In men's events, senior Ernie Waterson placed fourth in the men's 800m race with a time of 1:51.70 while freshman Nick Walker secured ninth place by clearing a height of 1.92 meters in the high jump.
The official list for final qualifiers for the NCAA Division III Track and Field Outdoor Championships will be announced on Friday, May 16. The championships are scheduled from May 22 to May 24 at SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
