Illinois Wesleyan finishes strong at NCAA Division III women’s golf championship

The Illinois Wesleyan University women's golf team concluded its season with a commendable performance at the NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championship in Williamsburg, Virginia. The Titans finished 15th overall, marking their best round of the tournament on Friday, May 16, with an 11-over par 299. This score was the fourth-best round of the day and brought their total to 1222 over four days.

Three players from Illinois Wesleyan placed within the top-100 individually. Senior Jacque O'Neill from Harbor Springs, Michigan, achieved her career-best round with a one-under 71. Competing in her final collegiate tournament, O'Neill tied for 67th place at 16-over par (304). Freshman Gigi Zera from Glenview, Illinois, also shared this position after delivering a strong debut performance with a three-over 75 in the final round.

Senior Macy Ludwig from Effingham, Illinois, ended her college golfing career by scoring a three-over 75 in the last round. Her total for the week was 307 (81-75-76-75).

Emory University secured the team title with a total score of 1168 over four days. Carnegie Mellon followed as runner-up with a score of 1181. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (1195), George Fox (1203), and WashU (1206) took third through fifth places respectively. Emory's Carys Code excelled individually by finishing three-under for the tournament and earning medalist honors as one of only three players to finish par-or-better.

With this event concluding their season, it also marked the end of collegiate careers for Macy Ludwig, Jacque O'Neill, Jadyn Spinks, and Claire Ancevicius.
