The Illinois Wesleyan University swim and dive team is expanding its coaching staff with the addition of Brooke Walker as an assistant coach. The announcement was made by Dan Lloyd, director of swim and dive, on Thursday, June 19. Walker will start her new role on August 1.

Lloyd expressed his enthusiasm for Walker's appointment: "I am excited to have Brooke join our staff as she brings invaluable knowledge of the culture we will build and create here at Illinois Wesleyan in our program. She also has a great understanding of our conference and the community having been a successful student athlete in college on a championship program, and also from growing up here in the Bloomington-Normal area."

Walker recently completed her collegiate swimming career at Augustana College, where she served as a captain during her final season. Her academic achievements include earning a Bachelor of Arts in business administration finance and management, along with a minor in communication studies and data analytics.

A native of Le Roy, Illinois, Walker contributed to three College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championships with the Vikings in 2022, 2024, and 2025. She received All-CCIW honors each year during her time at Augustana.

Walker's accolades include CCIW championship titles in several events such as the 1650-yard freestyle (2023), 200-yard breaststroke (2025), 400-yard medley relay (2023 and 2025), and the 800-yard free relay (2024). Additionally, she earned all-conference recognition in other events including finishing second in the 100-yard breaststroke (2025) and runner-up positions in multiple years for other freestyle events.

She was named MVP for Augustana's women's team following her sophomore year and received Academic All-CCIW honors twice. Notably, she holds school records at Augustana for both individual events like the 200-yard breaststroke set in 2025 and relay events such as the improved record-breaking performance in the 800-yard freestyle relay achieved that same year.

In addition to her responsibilities at Illinois Wesleyan University, Walker will also take on coaching duties for Bloomington's recreational youth swim team.
