City of Pontiac City Council met June 2.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

The regular meeting of the Pontiac City Council was held on June 2, 2025. Mayor Eckhoff called to order the meeting of the City Council at 7:00 P.M.

The City Clerk was directed to call roll, and the following members of the Council were present: Barr, Giovanini, Causer, Lee, Bradshaw, Cranford, Howard and Wille.

REGULAR AGENDA

A. License Agreement-Richardson 1127 N. Division

Joe Richardson would like a license agreement to be able to install a water line on his property. Discussion was held.

Motion was made by Barr and seconded by Cranford to approve license agreement. On a roll call vote motion carried 4 Aye, 4 Nay. Aye votes recorded. Barr, Giovanini, Lee and Cranford. Nay votes recorded. Causer, Bradshaw, Howard, and Wille. On a tie vote, Mayor Eckhoff voted to agree to the license agreement.

B. Façade Grant-Miller Addendum 309 N. Oak

Administrator Woolford presented the approval for Mr. Miller to put in new windows on his property using the Façade Grant money.

Motion was made Cranford, seconded by Lee to approve the use of Façade money to put in new windows at 309 N. Oak Street. On a roll call vote motion carried 8 Aye, o Nay. Aye votes recorded. Barr, Giovanini, Lee, Causer, Cranford, Bradshaw, Howard and Wille.

C. Ordinance 2025-O-012

Administrator Woolford presented ordinance 2025-0-012 permitting golf carts and recreational off-highway vehicles. Discussion was held on the parameters of the off- highway vehicles. Motion was made by Lee, seconded by Cranford to approve Ordinance 2025-0-012 allowing golf carts and recreational off-highway vehicles in town. On a roll call vote motion carried 7-1. Aye votes recorded: Barr, Lee, Causer, Cranford, Bradshaw, Howard and Wille. Nay votes recorded: Giovanini.

D. Authorization for bids-pickleball courts

Mr. Beckman presents the area in which the pickleball courts will be constructed at. A vote is being requested for the presentation to go out for bids.

Motion was made by Cranford and seconded by Howard to vote the pickleball project to be sent out for bids. On a roll call vote, motion carried 8-0. Aye votes recorded: Barr, Giovanini, Lee, Causer, Cranford, Bradshaw, Howard and Wille.

E. 2025HMA Bid Award

Mr. Verdun presented that bids were opened for the 2025 HMA Maintenance Program.

The request is to approve Kankakee Valley Construction Co. Inc.

Motion was made by Howard and seconded by Causer to approve Kankakee Valley Construction Co. Inc. for the 2025 HMA Maintenance Program. On a roll call vote, motion carried 8-0. Aye votes recorded: Barr, Giovanini, Lee, Causer, Cranford, Bradshaw, Howard and Wille.

F. Downtown Pavement Striping

An update was had on the striping project for downtown. Discussion was held. Motion was made by Bradshaw, seconded by Causer to approve the striping project downtown. On a roll call vote, motion carried 8-0. Aye votes recorded: Barr, Giovanini, Lee, Causer, Cranford, Bradshaw, Howard and Wille.

E. Building Maintenance

Administrator Woolford announced that Jason Lee has been selected to replace assistant superintendent-building maintenance. Mr. Lee will have to resign his position on the city council in ward 3.

No Vote.

Mayor Comments

Mayor Eckhoff gave an update on her recent department head follow. She spent the day with Chris Brock. Also gave an update on the social district. Looking for some direction on the food truck parameters.

Administrator Comments

Administrator Woolford thanked Mr. Verdun and Mr. Beckman on the hard work, and maintenance. June is a busy month for the city events. Take a look on the city website.

Council Comments

Alderman Bradshaw is looking for some rules for bike safety.

Public Comments

Last Night update by Anna Horner and the new events coming up for fundraising and an update on last night.
