The Illinois Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team has added Ike Eastburn to its coaching staff as an assistant coach for the upcoming season. The announcement was made by head coach Zach Iannucci on Monday, August 18. Eastburn began his new role at the start of August.
"Ike is going to be a great addition to our coaching staff," Iannucci said. "He always had a great feel and understanding of the game, all of our film sessions and discussions over the years, proving that his IQ is on another level. He was a player coach his last year, really helping out with the offense and guiding the younger players. What I am most excited about having him on staff is the person that he is. Lacrosse IQ matters, but it's who he is that matters most because he is a great coach, and an even better person. Ike has made me a better coach and person since being a part of our program and I am looking forward to having him coach alongside of me, hopefully for years to come."
Eastburn played an important role in Illinois Wesleyan's offense over the past three seasons after transferring before the 2023 season. As an attacker, he became a three-year letterwinner for the Titans and finished his playing career ranked third in program history for goals per game with an average of 2.24. He also placed eighth in both total goals scored (137) and man-up goals (17) in school records.
During his time at IWU, Eastburn earned Second Team All-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin honors in 2025. He contributed to three consecutive CCIW Regular Season and Tournament Championships as well as three NCAA Tournament appearances for Illinois Wesleyan. In his final season, Eastburn led the team with 52 goals and was second in points with 54.
Eastburn appeared in 50 games for IWU, making 44 starts while recording 146 points, collecting 61 ground balls, and causing 13 turnovers during his tenure with the team. Over three years, he helped guide Illinois Wesleyan to a combined record of 43 wins and 11 losses overall—including an undefeated conference record of 15-0.
