The Illinois Wesleyan University men's soccer team will host Eureka College for its first home game of the season at Neis Field on Wednesday, September 3, with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m.
Illinois Wesleyan opened its season with two victories at the JR Hoe Invitational in Louisville, Kentucky. The Titans defeated Spalding University 5-1 on August 29. In that match, junior forward Matthew Perchik scored twice, while sophomore Ben Lyons contributed a goal and an assist. Freshmen Daniel Smazil and Dillon Baker each recorded their first career goals.
In their next game against Centre College, Illinois Wesleyan secured a 2-1 win. Lyons scored on a one-on-one opportunity, and junior Joey Rodino provided the decisive goal with a volley in the 19th minute.
Eureka College comes into the contest with a record of 1-1 after earning a program-record victory over Kuyper College by a score of 14-0 and falling to Benedictine University 2-1. The win over Kuyper marked Eureka's largest margin of victory to date.
Illinois Wesleyan leads the all-time series against Eureka 1-0, following last year's meeting which ended in a 1-0 win for the Titans.
