The Illinois Wesleyan University women's golf team will begin its season at the Redbird Invitational hosted by Illinois State University on September 7-8. The event will take place at Weibring Golf Club in Normal, Illinois, with 36 holes scheduled for Sunday and a final 18 holes on Monday. Play is set to start at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday.
Illinois Wesleyan enters the tournament after winning the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championship last season and finishing 15th at the NCAA Championship. In the latest Mizuno Women's Golf Coaches Association Preseason Coaches' Poll released on September 5, the Titans are ranked 15th, matching their finish from the previous season.
The Titans are the only Division III team in a field that includes Division I programs such as Bowling Green, Butler, Dayton, Drake, Eastern Kentucky, Evansville, Illinois State, Indiana State, IUPUI, Loyola-Chicago, Northern Illinois, Northern Iowa, South Dakota, South Dakota State, and Valparaiso.
Representing Illinois Wesleyan will be sophomores Grace Fagan (Kirkwood, Mo.-Visitation Academy) and Gigi Zera (Glenview, Ill.-Loyola Academy), juniors Nora Cerroni (Waukesha, Wis.-Waukesha North) and Emily Gastrau (Wauwatosa, Wis.-Wauwatosa East), and senior Brooke Erhard (Champaign, Ill.-St. Thomas More). Freshman Julia Henry (Homewood, Ill.-Homewood-Flossmoor) will compete individually in her first collegiate event.
