The Illinois Wesleyan University women's tennis team secured a 4-3 win over Illinois College on Monday, September 8, in Bloomington. With this result, the Titans move to a 2-0 record for the season while Illinois College drops to 3-3.

Illinois Wesleyan swept all three doubles matches to take the opening point. Juniors Amber Ehrlich and Olivia Bell defeated Alyssa Wise and Clara Bach 6-2 at the top spot. The sophomore pair of Katie Van Heuklon and Gabi Lipske earned a 6-4 victory against Sophie Muir and Lily Ingram at No. 2 doubles. Freshmen Adia Douglas and Elana Religioso completed the sweep with a 6-3 win at No. 3 doubles.

In singles play, Illinois College took early control by winning matches at the second and third positions. Douglas tied the overall score for IWU after her straight-set win at No. 5 singles against Morgan Keefe, finishing 6-3, 6-1. Religioso gave IWU its first lead of the singles round with a 6-4, 6-2 result over Sabrina Ingram at No. 6 singles. Ehrlich then clinched the match for Illinois Wesleyan by defeating Wise in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3.

The Titans will continue their season at home on Wednesday, September 10 when they begin College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin play against North Central College. The match is scheduled for a 4:00 p.m. start at Evergreen Racquet Club.

Singles competition results included: Amber Ehrlich (IWU) def. Alyssa Wise (IC) 6-4, 6-3; Clara Bach (IC) def. Gabi Lipske (IWU) 6-1, 6-2; Sophie Muir (IC) def. Katie Van Heuklon (IWU) 6-0, 6-2; Lily Ingram (IC) def. Olivia Bell (IWU) in three sets; Adia Douglas (IWU) def. Morgan Keefe (IC) in straight sets; Elana Religioso (IWU) def. Sabrina Ingram (IC).

Doubles results were: Bell/Ehrlich (IWU) over Wise/Bach (IC), Van Heuklon/Lipske (IWU) over Muir/Ingram (IC), and Douglas/Religioso (IWU) over Keefe/Ingram.
