Illinois State University's women's soccer team recorded a 0-0 draw against Saint Louis University on Sunday at Robert R. Herman Stadium, marking the Redbirds' second consecutive tie and their third draw of the season. This result is also only the second draw in the all-time series between Illinois State and Saint Louis.
According to game details, both teams were evenly matched during the first half, with Saint Louis narrowly outshooting Illinois State 5-4. Redshirt sophomore Madi Valenti made two saves in the opening half to maintain a scoreless game going into halftime.
The defensive pattern continued in the second half as neither side was able to secure a goal. Valenti added three more saves after halftime, bringing her total for the match to six. "Valenti tallied six total saves in the game, which marks the ninth time in her career with at least six or more saves. Valenti's six saves moved her to seventh in Redbirds history with 124 career saves."
The Redbirds have allowed just one goal over their last six matches, representing their best defensive stretch across six games since 2003.
