Illinois Wesleyan University sophomore Liza Wiley has been named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Offensive Player of the Week, according to an announcement from the league office on Tuesday, September 16. This is Wiley's first weekly award and marks the first time a player from the Titans has received this recognition since 2022.
Wiley played a key role in helping Illinois Wesleyan's women's soccer team secure two victories during the week, improving their season record to 3-2-0. She accumulated six points with two goals and two assists over the course of these matches.
In a match against Monmouth College on Wednesday, September 10, Wiley scored the opening goal for the Titans in the 29th minute after receiving a volley from Ellen Dahlquist. She later assisted on goals by Sophie Lampert and Dahlquist, contributing to a 5-1 win.
During Sunday's game against Wartburg on September 14, Wiley again opened scoring less than six minutes into play by sending a shot over the opposing goalkeeper from 25 yards out. The Titans went on to win that match 2-1.
Wiley's achievement is notable as it is the first CCIW Offensive Player of the Week honor for an Illinois Wesleyan player since October 25, 2022, when current assistant coach Caelyn Bieterman (formerly Steffens) earned the same distinction.
The Titans are scheduled to play their next game in Fulton, Missouri against Westminster (Mo.) on Wednesday, September 17 at 6 p.m.
