The Illinois Wesleyan University men's soccer team will host Illinois College in a midweek match at Neis Field on Wednesday, September 17, with kickoff scheduled for 5 p.m.
Illinois Wesleyan enters the contest with an unbeaten record of 4-0-1. The Titans are coming off a strong week, having defeated Blackburn College 4-1 and securing a 1-0 shutout against Kalamazoo College. Sophomore midfielder Ben Lyons has been leading the offense, topping the team charts in points (10), goals (4), and assists (2). Lyons also holds two game-winning goals this season.
On defense, senior captain Nick McCully, senior Kalabi Kamau, and junior Jackson Colman have started four games together, conceding only four goals during that stretch. Senior goalkeeper Sam Kedzior recorded his first shutout of the season against Kalamazoo after making two saves.
Illinois College arrives with a 4-1-1 record and is currently on a three-game winning streak in which they have scored 15 goals. Their only loss was to WashU. Sophomore midfielder Oscar Liogon-Arenas leads Illinois College in points (13), goals (5), and assists (3). Senior goalkeeper TJ Esseily has allowed just two goals over four games while making 26 saves for a .889 save percentage.
Historically, Illinois Wesleyan leads the series against Illinois College 9-3-1 since their first meeting in 1986. Their last encounter ended in a scoreless double-overtime draw on October 5, 2024.
