The Illinois Wesleyan University women's tennis team secured a 7-0 win over Millikin University on Tuesday, September 23 in Decatur, Illinois. This victory marks the Titans' first conference win of the season, improving their overall record to 4-2 and their College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) record to 1-2. Millikin's Big Blue fell to 2-5 overall and 1-4 in CCIW play.
Illinois Wesleyan swept all doubles matches to take an early lead. At No. 1 doubles, sophomores Katie Van Heuklon and Gabi Lipske defeated Isabella Griffiths and Sarah Parsons, 6-1. Freshmen Adia Douglas and Elana Religioso clinched the doubles point at No. 2 with a 6-0 win over Kristen Armstrong and Tessa Koehler. The Big Blue forfeited the third doubles match.
In singles competition, Illinois Wesleyan won all six matches. Junior Amber Ehrlich beat Griffiths at the top spot, 6-1, 6-0. Lipske defeated Addison Ross at No. 2 singles by the same scoreline. Van Heuklon won against Armstrong with a score of 6-4, 6-4 at No. 3 singles. Junior Olivia Bell overcame Parsons at No. 4 singles, winning 6-3, 6-1. Douglas took a straight sets victory over Koehler at No. 5 singles, finishing 6-2, 6-3. The sixth singles match was decided by forfeit in favor of Illinois Wesleyan.
The Titans will next play Concordia University Chicago on Sunday, September 28 in River Forest with first serve scheduled for noon.
