The Illinois Wesleyan University men's soccer team secured a 3-0 win over Eureka College at McKinzie Field on Wednesday, September 24. With this result, Illinois Wesleyan’s overall record stands at 5-1-2, maintaining a perfect 5-0-0 away record. Eureka’s record is now 4-6-2 as the team prepares for upcoming St. Louis Intercollegiate Conference games.

Illinois Wesleyan opened the scoring in the 39th minute following a set play from a throw-in. Freshman Hunter Reinberg provided an over-the-head pass that was headed by junior Faheem Mujahid before sophomore Gavin Young finished the move with his first collegiate goal.

Three minutes later, freshman Colby Thomas broke through the center of the field and assisted senior Logan Tierney, who scored into the top right corner.

The score remained unchanged until the 84th minute when junior Ryder Coleman passed to Mujahid, who then scored to make it 3-0.

Illinois Wesleyan’s defense earned its second shutout of the season and has allowed no more than one goal in each of its last five matches. The team attempted 32 shots—its highest since September 5, 2012—and landed 12 on target.

Illinois Wesleyan will next face Wabash College on Saturday, September 27 at Neis Field in Bloomington. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m., following the women’s match.
