Illinois Wesleyan women’s soccer to face UW-Platteville in final non-conference match

The Illinois Wesleyan University women's soccer team will play its final non-conference game of the season at home against the University of Wisconsin-Platteville on Saturday, September 27. The match is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Neis Field and will be followed by a men's soccer game as part of a doubleheader.

Tropical Smoothie Cafe will offer $5 smoothies to fans starting at noon at Neis Field.

Sophomore Liza Wiley leads the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin in assists this season with five. She is also third in the league for both points (13) and goals (4). Teammates Kayley Carew, a senior, and Taylor Haun, a sophomore, are also among the top eight assist leaders in the conference, each with three assists.

Illinois Wesleyan holds a 5-4-0 record after defeating Knox College 4-1 on Wednesday, September 24. In that game, Keira Robinson scored twice in her first multi-goal performance. Kayley Carew and junior Ava Mapes added goals to secure the win.

UW-Platteville enters Saturday’s contest with a 5-3-0 record. The Pioneers recently lost 2-1 to Carroll University on Tuesday, September 23.

This upcoming match marks the first regular-season meeting between Illinois Wesleyan and UW-Platteville; they previously played an exhibition match last year.
