The Illinois Wesleyan University men's soccer team is set to play its final non-conference match of the season against Wabash College on Saturday, September 27 at Neis Field. The game is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
Illinois Wesleyan enters the match with a record of 5-1-2, having recently secured a 3-0 win over Eureka College. At home, the Titans have posted a 1-1-1 record this season.
During their recent victory against Eureka, sophomore Gavin Young scored his first collegiate goal in the 39th minute following a throw-in that led to a scramble in front of the net. Senior Logan Tierney added another goal before halftime by placing his shot into the top corner. Junior Faheem Mujahid contributed with a late goal in the 84th minute, marking his third point of the match.
Defensively, Illinois Wesleyan has limited opponents to one goal or fewer over its last five matches. Senior goalkeeper Sam Kedzior has made 21 saves so far this season and holds a .750 save percentage. He achieved a season-high six saves during a match against Illinois College on September 17.
Wabash College comes into Saturday's game with an overall record of 4-5 and is 1-4 when playing away from home. In their last five games, Wabash has gone 1-4 but won their most recent contest against Adrian College.
The two teams have faced each other six times since 1990, with Wabash leading the series at three wins and three draws. Each of their past three meetings ended in a 1-1 draw.
