Illinois Wesleyan men's tennis opens ITA Regional with first day losses

The Illinois Wesleyan University men's tennis team began its participation in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Regional on Friday, September 26, in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The event is hosted by Kalamazoo College.

In doubles competition, seniors Ian Turnbull and Griffin Hammond lost their opening round match to Greenville University's Jade Dynamic and Francisco Trujillo Garcia with a score of 8-5. The pair will continue play in the consolation round of 16 against Jacob and Josh Doyle from Albion College on Saturday, September 27. The match is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m.

In singles matches, Turnbull was defeated by Rafael Lessa of North Central College, 6-4, 6-3. He will next face Joao Henrique Nassar from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in the consolation round of 32 at noon.

Junior Thad Dillow also competed in singles play but lost to Caleb Bartels from Calvin University with a score of 6-0, 6-1. Dillow will return for the consolation round of 32 against Jake Lasceki from Alma College at 1 p.m.
