The Illinois Wesleyan University women's tennis team secured a 7-0 victory over Concordia University Chicago on Sunday, September 28 in River Forest, Illinois. This win marks the third consecutive sweep for the Titans, improving their season record to 5-2. The Cougars remain winless at 0-7.
Illinois Wesleyan started strong by winning all three doubles matches. Amber Ehrlich and Olivia Bell defeated Amelia Engelman and Amirah Shakir with a score of 6-0. Katie Van Heuklon and Gabi Lipske also won their match against Kathleen Castillo and Arriyanna Amison, 6-0. Adia Douglas and Elana Religioso completed the doubles sweep with a 6-1 victory over Sarah Gustafson and Hannah Upole.
In singles competition, the Titans did not drop a set across six matches. Ehrlich beat Engelman 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles. Lipske earned a win over Shakir, finishing 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2 singles. Van Heuklon defeated Castillo without losing a game (6-0, 6-0) at No. 3 singles. Bell followed suit against Upole (6-0, 6-0), while Douglas matched that result versus Amison at No. 5 singles. Religioso rounded out the day with another straight-set win over Courtneye Schneider (6-0, 6-0).
The Titans will return to College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin play on Friday, October 3 when they host Carroll University at Evergreen Racquet Club in Bloomington.
