Redshirt sophomore Madi Valenti has been named the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Goalkeeper of the Week for the second consecutive week, according to an announcement from the conference office on September 29. This recognition marks Valenti as the first Illinois State Redbird to receive back-to-back weekly conference honors since Kate Del Fava in 2019.

Valenti's performance over the past week contributed to her earning this award. In Thursday's match, she secured her 10th career shutout, making her only the seventh player in program history to reach double-digit shutouts. On Sunday, Valenti recorded seven saves during Illinois State’s 2-0 win against Southern Illinois, helping extend the team's unbeaten streak to five games.

The Redbirds have now had a player receive a weekly MVC award for five straight weeks, their longest such streak since 2019. Over their last five matches, Illinois State has achieved four shutouts and currently has seven total shutouts for the 2025 season. With these results, Illinois State is tied for 11th nationally in total shutouts this season, while Valenti ranks 13th among all NCAA goalkeepers.
