After posting two consecutive shutouts last week, Illinois Wesleyan University senior goalkeeper Sam Kedzior was named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Defensive Player of the Week. The announcement was made by the league office on Tuesday, September 30.
Kedzior led his team to a pair of victories: a 3-0 win at Eureka College on Wednesday, September 24, and a 4-0 win over Wabash College on Saturday, September 27. In those matches, he faced a total of 25 shots and saved all nine that were on target. One notable moment came against Wabash when Kedzior made a diving save in a closely contested match; the Titans then scored on their next possession.
This marks Kedzior's fifth time earning the CCIW Defensive Player of the Week award, with his previous honor coming on November 10, 2025. His goals-against average for the season has dropped to 0.79. The Illinois Wesleyan defense has now recorded shutouts in four of its last five games.
Illinois Wesleyan holds a record of six wins, one loss, and two draws as it prepares to open CCIW conference play against Carthage College at Art Kellar Field on Saturday, September 29. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
