Self-service electronics recycling will be available for McLean County residents on Saturday, October 4, 2025, from 8 a.m. to noon at the Town of Normal Public Works facility located at 1301 Warriner St., Normal, Illinois. This service is also offered on the first Saturday morning of each month. In addition to these Saturday hours, residents can use the regular self-service drop-off from Monday to Friday between 7 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

The program allows residents to recycle various types of electronics, including computers, monitors, keyboards, televisions, scanners, fax machines, copiers, cell phones, video recorders, and cameras. Items do not need to be operational in order to be accepted for recycling. However, devices that contain Freon—such as mini refrigerators and dehumidifiers—are not permitted.

Signage at the facility directs where each type of electronic item should be placed inside the building. Residents are asked not to leave equipment outside during times when the site is closed.

Electronics recycling through this program is limited to McLean County residents; businesses and individuals living outside McLean County are not eligible for drop-off services.

An updated list of acceptable items and further details about the program can be found on the Town’s website at normalil.gov/elecRecycle or by calling Public Works at 309-454-9571 during weekday business hours.

All Town of Normal facilities are accessible. Those needing assistance or accommodation can contact ADA Coordinator Mark Clinch by email or phone at 309-454-9580. According to the Town: "The Town of Normal wants all residents to be able to participate equally in Town efforts and initiatives. We welcome your feedback."
