The Illinois State men's tennis team is preparing to host the annual Redbird Invitational at the Gregory Street Courts in Normal. The event will feature teams from Northern Illinois, Marquette, and IU Indy.
Matches are scheduled to begin on Friday at 10 a.m., starting with one round of doubles followed by two rounds of singles. Play will continue on Saturday at 9 a.m., with two rounds of doubles and a final round of singles. Admission to the event is free, and matches will start as soon as courts are available each day, with a short lunch break.
In their previous tournament at the River Forest Collegiate Invitational, three Illinois State players secured championship wins in their respective singles flights. Tomas Valencia won Draw No. 1 by defeating Alessandro Hernandez (DU) 6-3, 6-0. Christian Capacci claimed victory in Draw No. 3 against Jeremy Sieben (WU) 2-6, 6-2, 10-7. Tin Ostro completed the trio of champions by beating Luke Coppage (MU) 6-4, 6-2 in Draw No. 4.
The fall season for the Redbirds will conclude in Chicago when they participate in the ITA Regionals from October 16 to October 19.
