Illinois Wesleyan women’s soccer opens conference play at Carthage

The Illinois Wesleyan University women's soccer team will begin its College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) schedule with an away match against Carthage College on Saturday, October 4. The game is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Art Keller Field in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

Illinois Wesleyan enters the contest with a record of 5-4-1 overall and will play its first conference game of the season. Carthage holds a 5-4-2 record and is already 1-0 in CCIW play.

Sophomore Keira Robinson, who was named the CCIW Offensive Player of the Week, scored four goals over two games last week. She now ranks second in the league with five goals this season. Sophomore Liza Wiley leads the conference in assists with five, while teammate Ellen Dahlquist is second with four assists, three of which came this week.

In their most recent match, Illinois Wesleyan drew 3-3 against UW-Platteville on September 27. After trailing 3-1 early in the second half, Robinson scored on a penalty kick in the 69th minute and then again off a cross from Dahlquist in the 78th minute to secure the tie.

Carthage began its conference campaign with a 4-1 victory over Millikin University on September 27. Emma Amberg scored twice for Carthage and currently ranks third in the conference with four goals this season.

Historically, Illinois Wesleyan has a record of 20 wins, nine losses, and six draws against Carthage. Last season, however, they lost to Carthage by a score of 2-0 on October 5, 2024.
