The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced a six-year highway and infrastructure plan, known as the Rebuild Illinois Highway Improvement Program. The initiative will cover Fiscal Years 2026 through 2031 and includes investments in highways, bridges, aviation, transit, freight and passenger rail, waterways, and facilities for bicycles and pedestrians.
According to the department, the $50.6 billion plan features projects from all 102 counties in Illinois. More information about the program is available at The State of Illinois Newsroom.

Tipsword, a Republican, was elected to the Illinois State House in 2023 to represent the state's 105th House District, replacing previous state representative Dan Brady.
