The Illinois Wesleyan University women's volleyball team has received two College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Player of the Week honors. Sophomore Alex Bardouniotis was named hitter of the week, while junior Eleanor Palmer earned defensive honors, according to an announcement from the league on Monday, October 6. This is the first time either player has received a weekly accolade in their collegiate careers.
Bardouniotis contributed to Illinois Wesleyan's offense during a three-set win over North Park University on October 1. She recorded nine kills with a .533 attack percentage, committing only one error on 15 attempts. Bardouniotis also had 11 digs, two aces, and one block in the match.
Palmer led defensively for the Titans in the same match. She achieved seven kills with a .667 attack percentage and added four blocks as Illinois Wesleyan limited North Park to a .115 hitting percentage. Palmer also registered two digs and finished with nine points.
Both players join teammates Taylor French, Kannyn Boyd, and Alysa Lawton as recipients of CCIW weekly honors this season.
These performances helped improve Illinois Wesleyan's record to 14-1 overall and 3-0 in conference play. The Titans are scheduled to play Carthage College at Tarble Arena on Wednesday night, October 8.
