Illinois Wesleyan University's men's golf team holds fourth place after the first day of competition at the Wabash Invitational, played at Broadmoor Country Club in Indianapolis. The tournament saw Illinois Wesleyan's 'A' squad record rounds of 295 and 282, trailing just behind the university's 'B' team, which posted scores of 282 and 283.
Senior Aidan Healy matched his career-best score with a five-under-par 67 in the second round, following an even-par opening round. "Healy is the lone Titan in the top-five as he shares a piece of fourth-place." Freshman Ben Gelven from IWU's 'B' team achieved a bogey-free seven-under 65 in his second round, marking his best collegiate performance so far. "Gelven took 10 shots off of his opening round, placing himself in seventh after 36-holes." Another freshman on the 'B' team, Ryan Andrews, shot a four-under 68 to open and currently sits tied for ninth place.
Emory University leads after two rounds with a total score of 555 following a strong second round at 17 under par. Carnegie Mellon is second with a score of 559. Illinois Wesleyan's 'B' and 'A' teams are third and fourth with totals of 565 and 577 respectively. Emory’s Kevin Mu tops the individual leaderboard at ten under par.
The final round will take place on Tuesday, October 7.
