Illinois Wesleyan women’s tennis prepares for matches against Wheaton and North Park

The Illinois Wesleyan University women's tennis team is set to continue its College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) season with two matches this weekend. The Titans, holding a 6-3 overall record and 2-3 in conference play, will face Wheaton College at the Evergreen Racquet Club in Bloomington on Friday, October 10, with the first serve scheduled for 3:30 p.m. On Saturday, October 11, Illinois Wesleyan will travel to compete against North Park University at 11:30 a.m.

In their most recent match on Saturday, October 4, Illinois Wesleyan narrowly lost to Carthage College with a score of 4-3. During that contest, juniors Amber Ehrlich and Olivia Bell secured a win at No. 2 doubles. In singles action, freshmen Adia Douglas and Elana Religioso won at No. 5 and No. 6 singles respectively, while sophomore Gabi Lipske earned a three-set victory at No. 2 singles.

Wheaton College enters the matchup with a record of 6-2 overall and 4-1 in CCIW play after defeating Augustana College by a score of 6-1 on October 4. Wheaton currently has a strong record against Illinois Wesleyan, maintaining a streak of 24 consecutive wins over the Titans, including a sweep last year.

North Park University stands at 3-5 overall and holds a conference record of 2-4 following their recent loss to North Central College on Wednesday, October 8. The Vikings have also had success against Illinois Wesleyan in recent meetings, winning the last four encounters between the teams. Last season, North Park ended the Titans' campaign with a win in the CCIW Tournament quarterfinals.
