The Illinois Wesleyan University women's golf team, ranked No. 12 nationally, will conclude its fall season at the Golfweek October Classic in Sandestin, Florida. The tournament is scheduled for October 12-14 and will be held at the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort, a par-72 course measuring 5,601 yards. Illinois Wesleyan is among eight ranked teams participating in the 54-hole event.
The Titans recently secured their fourth consecutive College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Championship on October 8, finishing 43 strokes ahead of North Central. Five team members earned All-CCIW First Team honors. Junior Emily Gastrau won the individual title with a career-best total score of 222 over three rounds.
Representing Illinois Wesleyan in Florida will be Gastrau, junior Nora Cerroni, sophomores Gigi Zera and Grace Fagan, and freshman Julia Henry.
The tournament field consists of 24 teams, including other nationally ranked programs such as Randolph-Macon (No. 7), Williams (No. 8), Trinity (No. 16), Hamilton (No. 18), Huntingdon (No. 22), Cal Lutheran (No. 23), Grinnell (No. 24), along with Piedmont, Centre, Rhodes, Southwestern, Mount Union, Sewanee, Transylvania, Gustavus Adolphus, Berry, Oglethorpe, UW-Whitewater, DePauw, Millikin, Hardin-Simmons, UW-Stout and LeTourneau.
